With the current transfer window still in full swing, SuperSport United have put a 'not for sale sign' on three of their star players.
The Tshwane giants have confirmed there is massive interest on Teboho Mokoena, Thabo Mnyamane and Aubrey Modiba from local clubs, but they will not entertain any offers.
According to the CEO Stan Matthews, he said they are not willing to sell their players to Premier Soccer League (PSL) competitors, but will only considers offers from abroad.
The three players are set to play a key role for the reigning MTN8 Cup champions as they look to lift a trophy or two in the 2018/19 PSL season.
“Modiba, Mnyamane and Mokoena are not for sale. We’ve received a lot of interest locally for these players. But we will only let go of them if we receive the right offers from abroad," Matthews told IOL.
“They have to continue with their good work. But if they continue to work hard and the right offer from Europe is presented to us, we will not stand in their way,” Matthews added.
Despite their lacklustre run last season, Modiba was one of the club's standout performers as he helped the club reach the Caf Confederation Cup final last year, where they were eventually beaten by TP Mazembe.
On the other hand, midfielder Mokoena has also established himself as a trusted feature in the heart of the park and has also netted crucial goals for his side in their domestic and continental campaigns.
In addition, Mnyamane's progress was hampered by injuries, but has been a key figure SuperSport as they beat Cape Town City in the Wafa Wafa final at Moses Mabhida Stadium last season.
With SuperSport having already parted ways with the likes of Reyaad Pieterse, Kingston Nkhatha and Tefu Mashamaite among others, Matthews will be keen on retaining the core of his team.
However, in their PSL opening match, United lost 2-0 to Benni McCarthy's side at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday evening and will now meet AmaZulu on Wednesday.
