The 2018 January transfer window may still be a few days away, but clubs have already been busy as they look to bolster their squads ahead of the second half of the season. One player who has been highly sought after over the past 12 months has been the 19-year-old attacking midfielder, and it seems that SuperSport have won the race to the starlet’s signature.
Webber is seen as one of South Africa’s most promising youngsters and his recent exploits for the National First Division (NFD) outfit Stellenbosch saw him thrown into the international spotlight as he was called up to Bafana Bafana’s Cosafa Cup squad earlier in the year.
While Stellenbosch are yet to reciprocate their form of last season which saw them qualify for the promotion/relegation playoffs, Webber remains a shining light at the Western Cape-based outfit, and after it was reported that he had in fact been allowed to train with Matsatsantsa last month in hope of winning a contract at the club, a move now looks imminent.
According to reports by Time Media, Webber had impressed the SuperSport technical team, and is set to complete his switch next week once the transfer window opens. Webber is likely to be one of a few new faces at SuperSport as the Tshwane side look to revive their Premier Soccer League (PSL) title aspirations.
