Super sub Samuel Kalu nets brace in Gent win

Samuel Kalu stood out as the hero for Gent in their 2-0 defeat of Waasland-Beveren in a Belgian top-flight encounter 

The Nigerian was introduced as a replacement for Danijel Milicevic six minutes after the hour-mark and led Yves Vanderhaeghe’s side to their second league win of the season.

After a goalless first half, the 20-year-old broke the deadlock to give the Ghelamco Arena outfit the lead in the 69th minute.

With five minutes remaining before stoppage time, Kalu doubled the lead for the host courtesy of an assist from compatriot, Moses Simon who played for entire duration.

Kalu has notched three goals in seven appearances in the Belgian elite division this term, while compatriot Anderson Esiti who was cautioned in the 50th minute was replaced in the 70th minute.

Gent move to the 11th spot in the Belgian top-flight with nine points 10 games and will visit Kortrijk for their next league encounter.
