Selangor was triumphant in this year's edition of the Sultan of Selangor's Cup, after their junior, senior and veteran sides defeated their Singapore counterparts on Saturday evening.
The Selangor Selection senior side, comprising mostly PKNS FC players and led by their head coach Datuk Rajagobal Krishnasamy, defeated Singapore Selection on penalties, after the 90 minutes ended tied at 1-1.
Speaking to the press after the medal presentation ceremony, the former Malaysia head coach said that the win is a tribute to Selangorians, as well as to the Sultan of Selangor himself, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah.
"This win is dedicated to the His Royal Highness the Sultan and the fans of Selangor, and it will motivate us further, especially we at PKNS.
"Although there was pressure on us to retake the trophy, the players performed well. They played according to the instructions, they kept finding the winning goal, and maintained their confidence level in the penalty shootout," remarked Rajagobal.
PKNS will resume their Malaysia Cup campaign this Tuesday, playing away to Felda United. They are currently second in Group B.
