Struggling Sony Sugar have pulled out of the FKF Shield.
Sony Sugar, who are bottom of the table, have opted to channel all their efforts on battling relegation instead of trying their luck on winning the Shield.
The Awendo based side were set to take on Rain Forest in the opening round of the knockout competition that kicked off on May 27 with a game between Gor Mahia and SS Assad.
“We have decided to withdraw from the tournament so that all focus can go to the league and bettering our position,” the club said in a statement.
Sony had a bad start to the season that saw them go down to newly promoted side Wazito at the Camp Toyoyo.
The poor run of form saw the club part ways with head coach Salim Babu who was replaced by Patrick Odhiambo.
Sony Sugar fell to Gor Mahia by a solitary goal on Wednesday at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu.
