Arsenal kept their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League alive by beating Manchester United and will now look to further close the gap by beating Southampton.
The Gunners remain six points behind fourth-place Manchester City with a game in hand and seven adrift of Liverpool, who sit third with two games spare.
Southampton did them a favour by holding Liverpool to a 0-0 draw at the weekend but they will now have to see them off to keep up the pressure on the current top four.

BETTING & GAME ODDS
Arsenal are 11/10 favourites to win away from home, according to Oddschecker, with Southampton priced at 11/4 and the draw available at the same odds.
Alexis Sanchez is the 9/2 favourite to score first, with Olivier Giroud rated at 5/1 and Danny Welbeck 11/2. Manolo Gabbiadini is the top choice for the hosts at 6/1.
A few days after giving Arsenal hope in the race for Champions League qualification, Southampton will attempt to take it away again on Wednesday night.
It should be noted that the Saints' 0-0 draw at Liverpool - and strong form against the Reds throughout the 2016-17 campaign - was not particularly reflective of consistently good performances against the Premier League's top sides, but there is one other top-six team they have repeatedly troubled this term.
That happens to be Arsenal, who needed a 94th-minute Santi Cazorla penalty to defeat them in September and were then knocked out of the EFL Cup by Claude Puel's team at the end of November.
It really depends on what version of Southampton's defence turns up; they have kept back-to-back clean sheets in their past two games but having sold Jose Fonte to West Ham and lost Virgil van Dijk to injury, there has been both promising signs and inconsistency in the partnership between Jack Stephens and Maya Yoshida.
Arsenal have looked a better team since switching to a 3-4-3 formation that caused the Saints problems when they faced Chelsea. Though stained by defeat in the north London derby, the new system has brought out the best in Aaron Ramsey and accommodates both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez in central positions.
They have stumbled across it at the right time, because the Gunners will need to be near perfect to reel in either Liverpool or Manchester City to keep their place in Europe's top competition.
