Following a change in leadership, the Morocco international could be given a second chance to prove his himself at St Mary's Stadium

Southampton will 're-evaluate' Sofiane Boufal at the end of his Celta Vigo loan spell, club chairman Ralph Krueger disclosed.

The 25-year-old has enjoyed improved playing time in Spain this term after falling out of favour under Mark Hughes in the second part of last season.

The Moroccan winger flouted the manager's orders to warm up in Southampton's 3-2 loss to Chelsea in April and was consequently demoted to train with youth team for the rest of the campaign.

Despite Celta Vigo's struggles in the Spanish top-flight, Boufal has provided two goals and an assist in 18 league outings.

And with Ralph Hasenhuttl now at the helm after taking over Hughes in December, the former Lille player and Guido Carrillo who is on loan at Leganes will be assessed by the Austrian gaffer before the club makes a decision.

“Ralph’s going to take a look at them. There’s no 100 percent guarantee that they would be sold in the summer or not," Krueger was quoted by Reuters.

"They will come back, and we will re-evaluate them.

“Both players deserve that opportunity and when we feel the time is right to sell, we will sell.”
