Slovenia v Scotland Betting: Low-scoring affair as both sides vie for World Cup play-off spot

With so much at stake, Al Hain-Cole is expecting a tense encounter when the Tartan Army take on Katanec's resilient side in Ljubljana

Scotland travel to Slovenia on Sunday knowing that only victory will be enough to secure their place in the World Cup qualification play-offs.

Having kept themselves in the mix with a late victory over Slovakia on Thursday, the Tartan Army are available at 17/10 (2.70) with dabblebet to seal a spot in the play-off round by coming out on top in Ljubljana.

Defeat against England means Srecko Katanec’s team must collect three points and hope Slovakia lose at home to Malta in order to have any chance of making the play-offs, and there are identical odds of 17/10 (2.70) on offer on them fulfilling their side of that bargain with a victory here.

Two of the sides’ four previous encounters have resulted in draws, and you can get odds of 9/4 (3.25) on them cancelling each other out once again in this one.

Although they may mathematically still have a chance of sneaking into the play-offs themselves, the hosts will know that the likelihood of Slovakia slipping up against a Maltese team that has earned just one point from nine matches is extremely remote.

Nevertheless, six consecutive clean sheets at home in World Cup qualification suggests Slovenia are not going to make life easy for a team in need of victory, particularly given five of those six matches have resulted in victory.

Having failed to score in two of their last three qualifiers on the road, Gordon Strachan’s men will certainly have their work cut out against such resolute opposition – just as they did before breaking through courtesy of an 89th-minute own goal by Martin Skrtel versus Slovakia.

Given Scotland have kept four clean sheets in the last five fixtures themselves, a tight and tense finale seems inevitable at the Stadion Stozice, where odds of 7/10 (1.70) are well worth the investment on no more than one side finding the net.

Both teams to score: No for a 2pt stake at 7/10 (1.70) with dabblebet
