The South Africa international has finally put pen to paper on a new deal with the Citizens

Cape Town City goalkeeper Shu-Aib Walters has signed a new one-year contract with the club.

The 35-year-old shot-stopper played a pivotal role in City's top three finish this past season, and despite contract talks taking longer than expected to conclude, the two parties eventually agreed on a new deal.

Walters was one of the 14 players City retained from Mpumalanga Black Aces, and his contract extension will no doubt come as a huge relief to the majority of the club fans given his experience and professionalism as a footballer.

He made 34 appearances in all competitions, including 27 starts in the league for the Mother City outfit and kept 12 cleansheets in the process.

The former Maritzburg United keeper is again expected to keep the No.1 jersey at the club next season, but all that will depend on the new coach now that Eric Tinkler has left City for SuperSport United.
