Ronaldo & Pepe console Modric after Portugal dump Croatia out

The midfielder was in tears after the final whistle following Ricardo Quaresma's extra-time winner but was comforted by his two Real Madrid team-mates

Cristiano Ronaldo was criticised for his post-match reaction after Portugal’s draw with Iceland at the start of Euro 2016 but he showed his class with Luka Modric on Saturday evening.

Portugal edged past Croatia and into the quarter-finals thanks to Ricardo Quaresma’s goal from close range in extra time.

The result left Modric in tears at the full-time whistle, but the midfielder was consoled by his Real Madrid team-mates Ronaldo and Pepe.
