Jurgen Klopp’s side were emphatic at Anfield and the value lies with backing the Reds finding more joy in the final third at the Stadio Olimpico

If Roma are to keep their European dreams alive then they’ll need another three-goal turnaround at the Stadio Olimpico.

Having shocked Barcelona 3-0 in the last round to set up this tie, Eusebio Di Francesco’s men were thumped 5-2 at Anfield and are 15/2 (8.50) to secure another miraculous comeback.

Latest Odds

Roma are slight favourites to win the second leg in isolation. 888Sport make the hosts a 31/20 (2.55) shot with Liverpool priced at 8/5 (2.60) so there’s not much to choose between the sides. The draw is 29/10 (3.90) with the same firm.

Mohamed Salah is 22/25 (1.88) to score anytime in Rome and the Egypt international is 18/5 (3.60) to break the deadlock as he did in the first leg.

Team News

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain sustained knee ligament damage in the first-leg and will be out of action for the foreseeable future, but Sadio Mane should return to the first team having missed the 0-0 draw at Stoke on Saturday.

Joe Gomez has not travelled for the Anfield side, although Adam Lallana is in the squad and could make his first appearance since March.

Liverpool are the only unbeaten side left in this year’s Champions League and it’s difficult to see them struggling too much against Roma in this second leg. What the hosts achieved against Barcelona was incredible but so was their decision to operate such a high defensive line in the first meeting between these sides.

It was a tactic that played right into the hands of their opposition and was duly punished.

Roma have yet to concede in European competition on home soil this term but Jurgen Klopp’s side have now racked up 38 Champions League goals this season and their emphatic front three will be primed to feast upon any defensive lapses here.

Given the firepower on show, goals at both ends seem fairly assured but the price of 4/11 (1.36) is likely to mean most punters look elsewhere in terms of finding a selection offering better potential returns.

Tips and Predictions

Considering Liverpool’s attacking prowess, backing the Reds to score two or more goals (over 1.5 team goals) at 3/4 (1.75) with 888Sport looks to be a solid selection.

Including the qualification round, this bet has paid out in five of the Reds’ six Champions League away games this season including clashes with Sevilla, Porto and Manchester City in the quarter finals.

That performance at the Etihad showed just what we can expect from Klopp’s side. They may be slightly more reserved in the early stages given their advantage but are more than capable of picking off a home side pushing forward in search of overturning a deficit.

Roma may have performed admirably in Europe when it comes to their defence but that looks to be a statistical quirk as opposed to an indicator of a staunch backline.

In Serie A the hosts have only kept one clean sheet in their previous nine games at this venue, conceding 12 times in that sequence and Liverpool should find plenty more joy in the final third. Backing the Reds to score at least twice more at 3/4 (1.75) certainly looks to be an opportunity worth taking.
