Qatar Cup Final: El Jaish defender Lucas Mendes to miss Al Sadd clash through injury

The Brazilian has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Lucas Mendes will be unavailable when El Jaish play their Qatar Cup final against Al Sadd.

In a huge blow for the team, the club have confirmed that influential defender will miss the remainder of the season.

The Brazilian suffered a fractured cheek bone in his side's 3-2 victory over rivals Lekhwiya on Friday evening.

The news will be a major blow for Jaish coach Sabri Lamouchi, who considers Mendes his first choice centre-back for the side.

Lamouchi will now have to assess his squad in the coming days to decide on a replacement for Mendes ahead of the Saturday evening Qatar Cup final against Al Sadd.

The club also confirmed that the side will return to training on Monday evening as they ramp up their preparations for the Qatar Cup, El Jaish are the current Qatar Cup holders and will be looking to lift the trophy for the third time in their history on April 29.
