Premier League Betting: Punters backing Rashford to reach 20 goals after impressive pre-season displays

Having signed a new contract, Marcus Rashford could be Manchester United's main striker for the upcoming season.

The 21-year-old netted 10 times in the Premier League last term, his best total for a single campaign since breaking into the first team, but punters believe 2019-20 could see a real spike in those numbers.

Having scored in back-to-back pre-season games against Perth Glory and Leeds United, bet365 now make Rashford 8/1 (9.0) to reach the 20-goal mark in the top-flight.

bet365's Steve Freeth said: “Rashford has made an eye-catching start after recently signing a bumper new deal and, with doubts over the future of Romelu Lukaku, he looks primed to better his 10-goal haul from last season.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems more concerned with bolstering United's fragile defence as opposed to their attacking options, although Daniel James has impressed this summer and looks an exciting prospect.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has already arrived in Manchester and Harry Maguire is expected to follow if a fee can be agreed with Leicester City before the transfer window closes on August 8.

Lukaku has been ruled out of the International Champions Cup clash against Inter - the club believed to be the leading suitors for his services this summer.

With Alexis Sanchez failing to make an impact since his move to Old Trafford, Rashford is expected to be the main beneficiary of the extra opportunities likely to present themselves to the other forwards available to Solskjaer in the upcoming season. It’s 33/1 (34.0) that the striker is voted PFA Player of the Year.
