Kenyan Premier League side Posta Rangers have down played reports that the club is in the race to sign former Mathare United goalkeeper Robert Mboya.

The youngster quit the ‘slum boys’ barely six months after re-joining from Kariobangi Sharks, and speculations have it that the mailmen as well as Tusker FC are on the verge of signing him.

However, coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo has denied the rumors saying they are far from the truth.

“I must admit that Mboya is a good goalkeeper with quality as well as experience, but saying that we are close in signing him is a lie. We have not even thought of it. Definitely we are disappointed after losing Okello, David, but that is it.

“I cannot say we are entirely out of the transfer window, all I can say is that if we get a good player then we will definitely go for him,” Omollo told Goal on Monday.

Paul Odhiambo and Edwin Lavatsa are among the new faces in Posta Rangers.
