Harambee Stars coach Paul Put and Stanley Okumbi

Paul Put confirm impending changes at Harambee Stars

Stanley Okumbi's future on the Harambee Stars technical bench is in limbo after head coach Paul Put confirmed the impending changes in his backroom staff.

Put confirmed that there are plans to ring changes in the bench, further arguing that that is the only route if Kenya is to qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nation in Cameroon.

The Belgian, 61 has since tabled a proposal to Football Kenya Federation that, if implemented, may see Okumbi and John Kamau moved or kicked out altogether.

Put took over from Okumbi who was subsequently demoted to the less prestigious assistant position last November.

“I tabled my (Cecafa) report on what I think has to be done. It’s up to them (FKF) to make a decision because we’ve to improve in many ways,” Put told said on Wednesday.

“I am trying to improve the standards of football in Kenya and this is the reason some people will be coming in if we want to qualify for Afcon.”

Kenya will take on Ghana in the qualifiers on March 23, here in Nairobi.
