Only World governing body Fifa now stands in the way of keeper Patrick Matasi signing for St. Georges of Ethiopia.

Goal can now reveal that Football Kenya Federation have officially approved the transfer of the former Posta Rangers keeper to the Ethiopian giants. This follows a request for Matasi’s International Transfer Certificate (ITC) by the Ethiopian club, which was done on Thursday.

With the local federation handing in the ITC to St. Georges, Matasi’s transfer only awaits Fifa’s approval. Earlier on Thursday, Goal exclusively obtained a photo showing the now former Tusker keeper departing Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for Addis Ababa's Bole Airport.

Matasi has been on top form for both club and country, something that caught the eye of the Ethiopian giants. Matasi says he is ready for the new challenge ahead and hopes he will have an instant impact for his new team.

"I have been promised a two-year deal if I pass medical, and to be honest, I'm excited and happy to go and try out," Matasi told Goal in an exclusive interview.

"I take this opportunity to thank my former sides, Posta Rangers, Tusker, AFC Leopards among others, who have shaped me."

This move will definitely push Tusker to venture into the transfer window with an intention of getting a replacement.
