Desire Oparanozie's strike lifts Guingamp

The Super Falcon made the difference as her French side snatch a late home victory against Sebastien Joseph's ladies on Sunday

Guingamp climbed up to fifth on the French Feminine Division 1 log as Desire Oparanozie's lone strike secured a vital 1-0 home victory over Rodez on Sunday.    

The 23-year-old netted in the 83rd minute to ensure Sarah M'Barek's ladies saw off their visitors at Saint-Brieuc Stadium.

The latest goal of the Nigeria forward, who recently extended her stay to 2020, is her sixth goal in nine matches this season.

However, compatriot Evelyn Nwabouku was undressed for the match as she was yet to fully recover from a knee injury that saw her missed the 2016 African Women’s Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

With the victory, Guingamp has now accrued 18 points from 12 matches - 20 behind leaders PSG and will next travel to face bottom-rocked Metz on Wednesday.
