It is official, Ulinzi Stars captain Stephen Ocholla has retired from football, Goal has learnt.

The defensive midfielder has not made any league appearance this season and had initially thought of hanging the boots by the end of the season. The former player is set to continue with his coaching course as he focuses on life after active playing. "Yes, I have now retired from football, playing football that is.

"It was not an easy decision but sometimes we are left with minimal options. It has been a good and enjoyable journey, unfortunately it has come to an end. I am now taking lessons in coaching, it is my next step and I hope to be on the touchline soon."

His absence is definitely a blow to coach Benjamin Nyangweso, who had hoped the midfielder will postpone his retirement to at least end of the season.
