Kaizer Chiefs have announced the return of former captain Patrick Mabedi as their new assistant coach on a two-year deal.

The Malawian-born spent eight years at Amakhosi between 1998 and 2006, and he worked with Steve Komphela, who was an assistant to Muhsin Ertugral in 1999.

Mabedi expressed delight at returning to the club that he led to many major trophies, including the Mandela Cup in 2001.

“I am happy to be back home. I look forward to making a contribution to the success of this great institution. This is a privilege. I wish to thank the club management for this opportunity,” Mabedi told the Amakhosi website.
