No away goal was recorded as the Peace Boys and Promise Keepers secured big wins on Sunday evening

Abia Warriors 0-0 Enugu Rangers

Abia Warriors recorded their fourth home draw against Enugu Rangers at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Sunday.

The Uchendu Warriors were aiming a return to winning ways after midweek defeat at Enyimba but only they could settle for a 0-0 draw against the Flying Antelopes.

Emeka Isaac came close to handing the home team the lead but his volley failed to trouble Rangers goalkeeper Femi Thomas in the first half.

In the second half, Godwin Aguda almost put the visitors ahead with his header but Abiodun Adebayo's denied him with a touchline clearance.

The draw means Rangers are ninth with 10 points, while Abia Warriors drop to 13th position with eight points from seven matches.

Akwa United 4-0 Wikki Tourists

Akwa United maintained their position as league leaders with a 4-0 thrashing of Wikki Tourist at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

Abdu Maikaba's men needed the maximum points to stay ahead of closest challengers Plateau United and they earned it with ease, putting four past their visitors.

The one-sided encounter saw Ubong Friday open the scoring in the 14th minute from Gabriel Wassa's cross to give the hosts a first-half lead.

Victor Mbaoma increased the tally to 2-0 through an assist from Friday in the 66th minute before Micheal Ibe and Christian Pyagbara got the third and fourth goal respectively.

With the win, Akwa have extended their unbeaten run to five, accruing 16 points from seven, while Wikki are 12th with nine points.

El-Kanemi Warriors 0-0 Enyimba

El Kanemi Warriors recorded their second home stalemate this season in a 0-0 draw against Enyimba in a cagey league encounter at the Maiduguri City Stadium.

The Borno Army had ambitions of earning their first win in four consecutive matches but the People's Elephants harboured different dreams of staging an upset in Maiduguri.

The visitors started the encounter brightly as they came close to securing an early lead through Stanley Dimgba, whose efforts went inches wide in the fifth minute.

Seven minutes later, Ifeanyi Anaemena denied the home side after he blocked Willian Ukeme's goal-bound shot before Uche John's freekick went wide three minutes after.

In the 37th minute, Togolese Anthonio Desousa managed to send into the box a low cross but nobody was on hand to tap in for El Kanemi's goal.

Heartland FC 2-0 Kwara United

Heartland got their first win of the season in a 2-0 triumph over struggling Kwara United at the Dan Anyian Stadium.

A goal in either half from Biodun Thompson and Nnamdi Egbujor ensured the Naze Millionaires ended their winless run in six consecutive games in Owerri.

Thompson fired the hosts in front, having capitalized on a defensive mixup by Kwara in the 10th minute before Egbujor scored 10 minutes from time to seal the victory.

The victory saw Heartland climbed up to 15th position from the bottom of the log with seven points from seven matches.

Katsina United 2-0 Niger Tornadoes

Katsina United recovered from last Wednesday's 1-0 away loss to Yobe Desert Stars to defeat Niger Tornadoes 2-0 at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.

Goals from Chinedu Ajanah and Eric Dufegha ensured the Chanji Boys secured their third win of the season and extended their head-to-head edge over the Ikon Allah Boys.

Ajanah's header off Destiny Ashadi's freekick powered Katsina in front in the seventh minute of the first half. In the second half, Dufegha doubled the lead after he rounded up Tornadoes goalkeeper Edwin Nwakanma in the 47th minute.

Katsina are now sixth on the league log with 10 points from seven matches, while Tornadoes dropped to 19th position with a game in hand against Heartland.

Lobi Stars 1-0 FC Ifeanyi Ubah

Lobi Stars earned their first win in three recent meetings with a 1-0 victory over Ifeanyi Ubah at the Aper Aku Stadium.

The Pride of Benue had bowed 1-0 to Kwara United last Wednesday and needed to keep up their chase for the title with a win against the Anambra Warriors.

Esosa Igbinoba's 26th-minute clever finish off Ayo Saka's cross was all Solomon Ogbeide's men required to return to winning ways and keep their dreams for a league diadem alive.

The win took Lobi to fourth with 13 points from seven games, while Ifeanyi Ubah are 16th with seven points.

Plateau United 5-0 Sunshine Stars

Following their disappointing 2-0 loss to Kano Pillars last Wednesday, Plateau United bounced back with a bang as they thrashed Sunshine Stars 5-0 at the New Jos Stadium.

Tosin Omoyele's brace plus Sunday Ingbede, Emeka Umeh and Mafeng Pam's strikes inspired the Peace Boys' healthy triumph over the Owena Whales.

Omoyele opened the scoring for Plateau as he leveraged on Sunshine's defensive error in the 13th minute before he set up Ingbede to double their lead two minutes later.

In the 20th minute, Umeh added their third to banish hopes of a comeback for Duke Udi's men with the 3-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Sunshine managed to hold on until the 76th minute when Omoyele found a breakthrough to increase the tally and grabbed his second of the encounter.

Three minutes from time, Pam wasted no chance to convert a brilliant pass from Ingbede to complete the riot for the champions.

Rivers United FC 1-0 Go Round

Rivers United recorded a hard-fought 1-0 victory over newcomers Go Round in the local derby played at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium.

The first half failed to produce a goal but Guy Kuieman missed a great chance as he shot wide from close range in the 25th minute.

In the second half, Samuel Akinbinu was brought down in the Go Round box to gift Rivers a penalty in the 80th minute. Oche Salefu did not hesitate as he scored from the spot to hand Stanley Eguma's men their first win in four matches this season.

With the win, Rivers rose up to 10th position with 10 points from seven games, while Go Round slipped into the relegation zone with seven points.
