No resting for Gor Mahia as FKF brings forward Shield Cup fixture

Gor Mahia will be in action this weekend, despite the postponement of 'Mashemeji Derby' against AFC Leopards.

Gor Mahia were set to play Ingwe on Saturday before the Kenyan Premier League pushed back the match to a later date after a protracted battle with FKF.

But K’Ogalo will now travel to Mombasa to take on Assad in the first match of the FKF Cup on Sunday.

The match was initially set to be played on Sunday, June 3 in Mombasa, but will now kick-off five days early.

"Owing to the team's participation in the Super Cup and in the view of the fact that your club won't be engaged in any league matches this weekend, we wish to inform you that we have moved to reschedule your Shield Round one match against Assad SC,” FKF said in a statement to Gor Mahia.

The knock out the tournament is set to officially kick-off on June 1 with the defending champions AFC Leopards kicking off their title defence against Kisii based side Shabana FC.
