Nigeria’s Bonaventure Dennis scores in Champions League debut

It took just six minutes for the 19-year-old to find the net in his first game in Europe’s biggest club competition

It did not take long for Bonaventure Dennis to make an impact in the Uefa Champions League.

Just six minutes into his debut, the 19-year-old forward drove home to give Club Brugge the lead in their 3-3 draw against Istanbul Basaksehir on Wednesday.

The Belgian side surrendered a two-goal lead against the Turkish outfit who had Togo international, Emmanuel Adebayor on parade from start to finish.

Dennis joined the Blue-Black on a four-year deal from Zoyra Luhansk where he was on target six times from 22 games in the Ukrainian topflight last season.

10 minutes after his goal, Stefano Denswil doubled his side’s lead but the visitors bounced back to take the lead courtesy of a brace from Marcio Mossoro and Eljero Elia’s effort.

However, Denswil rescued the hosts from defeat in 79th minute – and the result means Ivan Leko’s team would have a lot to do in the second leg if they are to reach the group phase of the championship.
