Nigeria foe, South Africa U20 women face Ghana in friendly

South Africa U20 women will face Ghana in an international friendly at the Cape Coast Stadium on Friday, December 29, 2018.

The southern Africans, who had crushed Namibia and Burundi to march into the final stage of the Fifa U20 Women's World Cup qualifier, where they will face familiar foe Nigeria.

And as part of the preparations to make a debut appearance in France, they will face the west African nation, who are also bidding for a World Cup spot in a friendly.

Before their trip to Ghana on Thursday, Basestana had since resumed training at the Dobsonville Stadium and are expected back after the match in Johannesburg on Sunday, December 31.

Maude Khumalo's ladies will be hoping to make history as the first side to subdue Nigeria at the U20 level and qualify for the World Cup.

They will host Nigeria in the final stage, first leg of the qualifiers on January 13 before traveling to Benin City for the return encounter two weeks later at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

A win over two legs will ensure the Basetsana's nick their first ever ticket to the biennial women's youth tournament to be held in France between August 5 - 24 next year.
