Nigeria 2-0 Sierra Leone: Okoro and Eneji lift Super Eagles

Sierra Leone have crashed out of the Wafu Nations Cup after they were silenced 2-0 by Nigeria at the Cape Coast Stadium.

Second half strikes from Osas Okoro and Peter Eneji were all the Super Eagles needed to subdue the unyielding Leone Stars who gave a good account of themselves.

The Super Eagles started the game on a sluggish note as they allowed their opponents dictate the pace, with goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa called to make fine saves off Donald Wellington’s effort.

Not too long, Ezenwa heroics stopped Nathaniel Vula from wreaking havoc in the 15th minute after Stephen Eze’s led back line was harassed.

However, Nigeria’s first real chance fell on Samuel Matthias’ feet by his shot from 25-yard was unable to threaten the opposing goalkeeper.

The Super Eagles got the curtain raiser in the 82nd minute after Okoro curled in a freekick before Enejidoubled the lead.

With this, Nigeria join Ghana, Guinea and the winner between Mali versus Mauritania in Group 1.
