Next Everton Manager Betting Odds: Marco Silva favourite to replace Sam Allardyce

Comments()
The Toffees have parted company with the 63-year-old after just six months in charge and the former Watford boss is well-fancied to replace him

Whether it was the ill-conceived fan survey or the playing style, Sam Allardyce's time at Everton never seemed to be going particularly smoothly.

The former England boss did guide the Toffees to an eighth-place finish in the Premier League but has left Goodison Park after just six months in charge.

Paddy Power are 4/6 (1.67) about Marco Silva being his permanent replacement. In what played out as quite a public pursuit, Silva was well-fancied for the vacancy before Allardyce was appointed.

Ultimately though, the distraction was named as a major contributing factor behind Watford's decision to part company with Silva in January, having seen their promising start to the season tail off somewhat.

The Hornets also made an official complaint about Everton's "unwarranted approach" after a mediation meeting failed to resolve the issues that have rumbling on between the two clubs.

Now it could be that the Toffees are about to get their number one target on board, albeit months later than initially planned and with a significant amount of ill-feeling from Watford about the methodology initially employed.

Fonseca Di Francesco Shakhtar Roma Champions League

Paulo Fonseca is a 17/10 (2.70) shot to take over Everton in what appears to be something of a two-horse race according to the initial prices, although managerial markets are some of the most volatile around.

Fonseca is currently in charge of Shakhtar Donetsk and has also been heavily linked with the West Ham job with David Moyes’ position under threat as the season draws to a close.

Louis Van Gaal (10/1), Andre Villas-Boas (20/1) and Unai Emery (20/1) are all priced up by Paddy Power but - for now at least - it looks like Farhad Moshiri and the club's hierarchy might be about to get their preferred candidate from earlier in the season.
