New FAM president's complete list of plans

Datuk Hamidin bin Mohd Amin has listed out 5 core areas with 30 major actions that he wants to carry out in his 3-year term as the new FAM president.

These are the full list of the action items that the new FAM president wants to be carried out during his 2018-2021 term 

Management and administration 

  • To restore the pillars of FAM through football administration and management using Management Quality ISO 9001:2015 and make FAM one of the most respected sports organizations in Asia and the world
  • To reform the structures in FAM through separation of powers, identifying clear and specific roles with the basic implementation
  • To open participation to all members and stakeholders to be more active to prevent dominative elements from one specific group
  • To study and restructure FAM laws and statutes to be more relevant to current footballing cultures as is practiced by FIFA and AFC
  • To kick start efforts to develop, guide and train states FAs and clubs using FAM Special Education Program that are based on syllabus from FIFA and AFC
  • To strengthen the policy of cost effective controlled spending with a well organized financial management system
  • To take FAM administration to the online system including games & competitions, registration, data collection, daily administration and others
  • To develop the new FAM headquarters and national team training center in Putrajaya.

National team

  • To rearrange the technical management structure of the national teams by using new approaches that are compatible with the culture and ecosystem of local football
  • To study the focus of national teams through identification of optimistic and realistic targets to reach higher FIFA ranking position
  • To arrange more matches for exposure, taking into consideration the quality and competitiveness of the opponents
  • To allocate sufficient preparation time for the team through training camps, making sure there is a right balance between club and country

Development program

  • To come out with a Strategic Plan and Road Map that are comprehensive, including action plans and targets for each activity
  • To improve on all grassroots program to be a cohesive long term program that can create a national DNA in creating the next generation of quality players
  • To create and increase the number of calibre coaching instructors that are qualified to do coaching courses that that more Pro Licence, A, B, C level coaches can be produced
  • To increase the effectiveness of the relationship and collaboration with Youth and Sports Minitry and Education Ministry through a licensing system known as Grassroots Charter based on win-win situation between FAM and private football academies across the country
  • To look into the role of FAM in NFDP so that the personnel in NFDP are more effective as well as acting as a form of auditor of the program
  • To develop the referee quality through Professional Referee Development Program
  • To build a working understanding with the public and private schools to encourage ex players to be able to continue their studies in football management after their retirement
  • To increase the development of women football through various activities including development program at grassroots level, increase of coaching manpower as well as restructuring of existing competitions



  • To improve on the organising and management of competitions among the FAM members
  • To restructure domestic competitions from the age-group aspects, women football and beach football at all levels
  • To introduce a National Futsal league that is professional, involving foreign players through controlled phases
  • To reignite international football competitiveness through reintroduction of tournaments like the Merdeka Football Festival and others
  • To relook into all facilities and venue infrastructure to ensure that it meet FIFA and AFC standards
  • To increase club licensing for all levels from association football to futsal to beach football

Communications & Marketing

  • To ensure that FAM including the national team coaches give appropriate response to any form of criticism, suggestion and views
  • To increase fans engagement activities not only involving FAM president but also the executive committee
  • To study all commercial opportunities for all FAM activities, regardless whether domestically or internationally
  • To encourage the growth of football tourism to make Malaysia the hub of the world, that will also help boost the country's economy as well as help promoting Malaysia to the world
