Baroka FC have moved swiftly to dismiss reports linking them with Orlando Pirates legend Teboho Moloi as their possible head coach for next season.

The 49-year-old coach has been jobless since parting ways Chippa United in March 2018 with the team flirting with relegation.

Baroka, who are currently under the guidance of caretaker coach Doctor Khumalo, have been linked with Moloi.

However, the club CEO Morgan Mammila has refuted the reports, insisting that they are looking for someone better than the former Bucs midfielder.

“To be honest, we are looking for a person who’s more superior [than Teboho],” Mammila said on FarPost.

Moloi had two spells with Pirates as an assistant coach, before he was given the chance to lead Chippa in September 2017 following the departure of Dan Malesela.

The former South Africa international has also been linked with a possible move to Mamelodi Sundowns.

“I’m not saying Teboho is not superior, but the track record of Teboho does not speak volumes,” the club boss continued.

Mammila made it clear that the Limpopo-based club is looking to bring in an accomplished coach, who has won the Premier Soccer (PSL) title or has a track record in the Caf Champions League.

“So, we need somebody who has won the league and maybe [Caf] Champions League matches as a bonus,” he added

“That’s the direction we want to take,” Mammila concluded.

The 2015/16 National First Division (NFD) champions have had three coaches this season. Khumalo took over from MacDonald Makhubedu, who replaced Kgoloko Thobejane in February.

Baroka are not entirely safe from the relegation play-off with one match to go before the end of the current 2017/18 campaign having failed to win their last six matches.

They are three points above the relegation play-off spot ahead of their clash with SuperSport United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday.
