Mohamed Salah is the buy of the season - Danny Higginbotham

Danny Higginbotham has labeled Liverpool’s capture of Mohamed Salah as the ‘buy of the season’.

The Merseyside outfit landed the Egypt international from Roma in a record deal last summer.

The former Basel winger has been in sensational form, scoring 17 goals in 22 games in all competitions for the Reds so far this term. He also leads the Premier League goals chart with 12 goals.

And the ex-Sunderland and Stoke City defender, in awe of Salah’s impressive form, believes the 25-year-old is the signing of the summer.

“He has been unbelievable,” Higginbotham told Sky Sports.

“He has got to be the buy of the season for the price he has gone for.”

Salah will be looking to continue his rich vein of form when Liverpool trade tackles with Spartak Moscow in Wednesday’s Uefa Champions League game at the Anfield Stadium.

Jurgen Klopp’s side sits atop the Group E standings with nine points from five games played with the Reds needing a point to secure their passage into the knockout phases of Europe’s elite club competition.
