Kaizer Chiefs head coach Giovanni Solinas recently revealed that he is keeping his fingers crossed for his key attackers to shrug off their injuries.

Khama Billiat and Leonardo Castro are both nursing injuries ahead of the eagerly anticipated Soweto Derby with Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

“We have two more days to train and make the decision. These players (Billiat and Castro) are under observation. I don’t know, we wait. They are training with the team,” Solinas said at a press conference on Wednesday.

Zimbabwean attacker Billiat sustained a back injury while on national duty last week and Colombian marksman Castro is nursing an ankle injury.

On the other hand, Pirates head coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic does not have the same fears as his opposite number.

Pirates though, have since revealed that Luvuyo Memela has been ruled out of the clash with Musa Nyatama facing a late fitness test.

“In these types of matches, whatever is paining me is not paining anymore! I’m not injured, I’m ready," Sredojevic told the media.

“That has been the attitude since Monday in training, and we want to put the seeds in the training to get the performance that our supporters expect from us,” he continued.

The Serbian tactician feels that the encounter between the two PSL giants is the biggest derby in Africa.

Micho is a well-traveled coach having worked in Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Sudan as well as his native, Serbia

“The 164th football story of South Africa. The biggest derby on the continent, the biggest in the world for me. When you have that in mind, it’s a big one,” Sredojevic said.

“The preparation has been going well. You could taste, you could smell, you could feel that we want to do our best on Saturday," he continued.

Sredojevic discussed his respect for Chiefs, who are placed just one place below second-placed Pirates on the PSL standings.

“Having respected opponents in Kaizer Chiefs, this is the 164th game, and that rivalry has been there and pushing both institutions to do their best on the field," he added.

“Regarding Kaizer Chiefs, I can only say we have the highest degree of respect for them. We are blessed to be in these respected positions because everything is on a temporary basis," he concluded.
