The Matildas boss is believed to be taking charge of his first A-League club

New A-League franchise South-West Sydney is understood have to chosen Matildas coach Ante Milicic as their inaugural manager.

The 45-year-old is expected to be announced as the leader for the new club in the near future, according to The World Game, with their first season in the league beginning in 2020-21.

Milicic is believed to be already looking at potential signings with former Socceroos skipper Mile Jedinak believed to be high on the list as the club's first marquee.

South-West Sydney, who still don't have an official name, can begin to sign players in December and Milicic has already started to consider what support staff he wants to be surrounded with.

He has coached and played at Sydney United, a club that South-West Sydney powerbroker Sam Krslovic has been heavily involved with, and was an assistant at Melbourne Heart and Western Sydney Wanderers.

Milicic was operating as a European-based Socceroos employee before the Matildas came calling for him in February to lead their World Cup campaign.

He is understood to have rejected the opportunity to continue with the Australian women's team after June's tournament in France.
