Roger Federer made history on Sunday as he won his eighth Wimbledon title and his 19th Grand Slam title.
The Switzerland native beat Marin Cilic in straight sets, 6-3 6-1 6-4, on centre court to ensure that he finished his Wimbledon campaign without dropping a single set.
The sporting world watched on eagerly as Federer put on a clinic, and was then honoured by a number of top footballing stars on social media, including Mesut Ozil and Gerard Pique.
To win #Wimbledon without dropping a set. Eighth title and almost 36 too. No sweat. Pure class, Roger Federer. Brilliant.— Ben Hayward (@bghayward) July 16, 2017
