Lyon boss Bruno Genesio has praised the contribution of Memphis Depay during his side’s 4-2 win over Dijon on Sunday.
Although the former Manchester United man spurned a great chance to put the hosts 2-1 up shortly after their opponents had levelled, the coach believes that a finishing touch was all the Netherlands international was missing from a “perfect” display.
“With a goal, his performance would have been perfect,” the coach said. “We’ve seen him rediscover his athletic capabilities, his capacity to make a difference in one against one situations.
“He also played well with his team-mates. It was interesting for him and for the team.”
Memphis has so far scored one goal since arriving in France, but has had a mixed start to life at Parc OL, having been jeered off in the derby against Saint-Etienne, which the Rhone club lost 2-0.
Lyon’s next outing is in the last 32 of the Europa League, but the Dutchman will not be in tow as he is ineligible for the competition, having turned out for the Red Devils in the group stages.
