Khumalo, 27, has made 13 appearances for the club in all competitions this season.
His defensive partners Eric Mathoho and Lorenzo Gordinho at centre-back have also impressed Mayo, who believes that the Amakhosi duo should also be recalled to the national team.
“They are doing very well both of them. I think they should be called up to the national team so that they can compete with Rivaldo Coetzee for the centre-back positions,” Mayo concluded.
