Manchester City have set a blistering pace in the Premier League this season and can clinch a fifth top-flight title with a victory against their bitter rivals at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.
Pep Guardiola would love to see his side crowned champions by beating Jose Mourinho’s side on home soil, of that there is no doubt.
Potential rotation for the hosts
The home side have a talented squad but with doubts about just how they’ll line-up for this game, it could be worth looking elsewhere for a wager.
Mourinho to spoil the party?
Mourinho’s usual approach when it comes to big games away from home is to put even more onus on defence. United have won just one of their last 10 away league games against fellow “big six” sides (D3, L6) and they’ve failed to score in eight of those.
With a Champions League spot all-but assured thanks to a nine-point advantage over Chelsea in fifth spot, United will be more concerned about spoiling a potential coronation of their rivals, as opposed to winning the match and that could lead to another tight encounter.
Opposing goals to pay dividends again
Those matches produced just three goals combined and while City have plenty of firepower at their disposal to scupper such a bet, the potential rotation might mean they’re less potent than would usually be expected.
Opposing goals have proved a profitable approach in these situations and with City facing a 3-0 deficit on Tuesday night, this looks to be the best option once again as Mourinho looks to ensure the champagne stays on ice for at least one more game at the Etihad.
