Betting: Manchester City go odds on for Premier League title ahead of Chelsea clash

With Pep Guardiola's side in fabulous free-scoring form, their title odds continue to shorten despite several major rivals keeping pace so far

Manchester City look unstoppable right now.

The Citizens blew Crystal Palace away 5-0 on Saturday, having done the same to Liverpool in their previous home match, with those results sandwiched an impressive 6-0 win at Watford - giving City a 16-0 aggregate for their last three league games.

Understandably this has led people to sit up and take notice, not least the bookmakers who have made City odds on for the title for the first time this season; their price is currently 10/11 (1.91) with dabblebet.

The leaders face a stern test of their championship credentials this weekend, though, as Pep Guardiola’s team travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in the live game on Saturday evening. Manchester United, who are currently second in the market at 5/2 (3.50), will be confident of overtaking them in the table should the visitors record anything other than a victory in South West London.

Jose Mourinho’s side host a Palace side who are still likely to be shell-shocked from their mauling in Manchester last weekend.

Chelsea are third favourites for the title, and can be backed at 9/2 (5.50). The Blues are three points behind their two rivals from Manchester, so will pull alongside City with a win on Saturday.

Beyond those three, even the rest of the big six are relative outsiders. Tottenham are next in line at 14/1 (15.00). Mauricio Pochettino's side will be confident of a victory this weekend as they travel to newly promoted Huddersfield, and will hope for a draw between Chelsea and City in order to narrow the gap as they look to go one place better than last season.

Liverpool are 20/1 (21.00) to end their Premier League title drought this term, and their next three matches see the Reds face Newcastle, Manchester United and Spurs, so Jurgen Klopp's men will need some big performances if they are to move upwards in the betting.

Arsenal are 25/1 (26.00) and it’s 150/1 (151.00) or more beyond those teams. The bookies definitely think the title is heading to Manchester one way or another.
