The sad memory of the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations will flash-fresh in the minds of many Kenyan football fans when Malian international, Frédéric Kanouté arrives in the country on Thursday.

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker led his country to a 3-1 win against Harambee Stars in the first Group B match in Tunisia, a result that spelt doom for the country at her last appearance in the continental stage.

Kenya was in the same Group as Senegal and Burkina Faso whom they beat 3-0 in the last preliminary match but could not progress to the next round having lost 3-0 to Senegal in the second match.

Thirteen-years down the line, Kanouté, who scored a brace in the match, in 63rd and 81st minutes, will lead a section of local fans in another highly emotional match during the live viewing of the El-Clasico this Saturday.
