Peter Odemwingie has described fans of Madura United as ‘amazing’ following the way they welcomed him before his Indonesian topflight debut.
The 35-year-old joined Gomes de Olivera’s men having completed a short spell with English Championship side, Rotherham United where he got seven appearances with no goal.
The Nigerian justified his ratings getting his first strike on his maiden appearance against Bali United Busam despite coming on as a second half substitute.
However, he was quick to salute the fans who chanted his name, expressed delight with his first goal and has vowed to help the Gelora Ratu Pamelingan Stadium giants to the best of his ability.
"It is very emotional when I heard my name called by supporters,’’ Odemwingie told media.
''I didn't play for a while and they screamed my name from the moment I start warming up. Very emotional, they are amazing.
"Madura are strong team. I hope I can help the team with all my best effort. I'm happy to score in my debut. I hope there will be many to come."
Madura United are second on Liga 1 log and will travel to the Surajaya Stadium on April 21 for their fixture against Persela Lamongan.
