The Reds will be determined to avoid another embarrassing defeat against a top four side when they welcome Antonio Conte's men to Merseyside

Liverpool welcome Chelsea to Anfield for the late kick-off on Saturday as both teams strive to stretch unbeaten runs and climb up the Premier League table.

The hosts can move level with Antonio Conte's side and potentially into the top four with victory, while a win for the Blues could see them leapfrog Manchester United into second, depending on results elsewhere.

Both teams come into the game having been in Champions League action during the week, but, while Chelsea recorded an emphatic 4-0 win over Qarabag, Liverpool were left deflated as they relinquished a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 away to Sevilla.

GAME PREVIEW

Alvaro Morata Chelsea 2017

Despite the nature of their draw against Sevilla during the week, Liverpool come in to their game against Chelsea on a five-game unbeaten streak and will have plenty of belief in their ability to overturn Conte's champions, especially given the attacking riches at their disposal.

Article continues below

Chief among their star attackers is former Blue Mohamed Salah, who will no doubt be eager to show his old club what they are missing as he endeavours to stretch his lead at the top of the scoring charts. Salah has scored five goals in his last four games in all competitions and moved ahead of Harry Kane in the Premier League charts with a double against Southampton last week.

Chelsea are also on an unbeaten run, albeit just three games, but they arrive at Anfield brimming with confidence following successive victories over Man United, West Brom and Qarabag. The burgeoning partnership between Alvaro Morata and Eden Hazard is beginning to yield rewards and the pair were particularly impressive in the 4-0 win over the Baggies at the Hawthorns.

While the home side boast incredible talent going forward, their fragile defence has been their undoing and, Conte will be keen to exploit that obvious weakness. Indeed, while Liverpool have lost fewer league games than Chelsea this season, their only losses have come against top-four sides (4-1 against Tottenham and 5-0 against Manchester City), so they will have to work extra hard to avoid yet another disappointment.
