The Reds boss has made five alterations to his XI for Wednesday night’s crunch clash at Anfield as he continues to balance rhythm and freshness

Sadio Mane is restored to Liverpool’s starting line-up with Jurgen Klopp expecting his explosive attack to secure Champions League progression against Spartak Moscow.

The left forward was rested in the 5-1 victory at Brighton, but will dovetail with Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane in the front line with Philippe Coutinho on the supply chain.

There are five changes to the XI as the Reds attempt to land a spot in the knockout round of the competition for the first time since 2008/09.

Ragnar Klavan and Joe Gomez have recovered from illness to take their place in the heart of and the right of the defence respectively, while Alberto Moreno comes in for Andy Robertson after being rested in midweek.

Emre Can and Gini Wijnaldum move out of the rearguard into midfield, with Jordan Henderson and James Milner dropping to the bench.
