Rodgers: Man Utd links 'not real'


Brendan Rodgers has once again reiterated his commitment to Leicester, insisting rumours linking him with the Manchester United job are “not real”.

The Foxes boss, who led the club to FA Cup success last season, is among the names reportedly on the Red Devils’ shortlist as the club considers a successor to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

However, the former Liverpool head coach has moved to distance himself from those rumours, insisting he is happy at King Power Stadium.

Barca in talks over Cabral deal


Barcelona have opened talks with Basel over a deal for Brazilian striker Arthur Cabral, reports Sport.

Barca are keen to bring in a powerful frontman in January and have been recommended Cabral by the club's new Brazil and Portugal scout Deco.

The 23-year-old has scored 23 goals and added eight assists in 24 appearances this season and has already been tipped for a call-up to the senior Brazil squad.

Barcelona have opened talks with wonderkid Gavi over a new contract, reports Mundo Deportivo.

The 17-year-old has enjoyed a whirlwind few months, first breaking into the Barca first team before earning international recognition with Spain last month.

His current deal expires in 2023 but Barca are keen to offer an extension with a signficant pay rise in order to ward off a host of clubs who are monitoring the teenager's progress.

Silva set for new Chelsea deal


Chelsea defender Thiago Silva is on the brink of signing a new contract, reports UOL.

The Brazil international signed a two-year deal when he joined on a free transfer from PSG in the summer of 2020 but is set to sign an extension through to June 2023.

The 37-year-old has impressed in the heart of the Blues defence despite his advancing years and wants to continue to play at a high level in order to secure his place in the Brazil squad for the 2022 World Cup.

Vlahovic rules out January move


Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic has ruled out a January exit, insisting he wants to help the Serie A club qualify for Europe.

The Serbia striker sparked rumours of a move in the winter window after turning down the offer of a new contract.

The likes of Juventus, Tottenham and Manchester City have been linked with the 21-year-old, but the striker told that he is planning to stay in Florence until at least the end of the season.

Red Devils searching for interim appointment

Lucien Favre and Rudi Garcia have been interviewed with a view to taking over as interim boss at Manchester United, the Telegraph reports.

As confirmed by GOAL, United have held talks with former Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde as they seek a managerial appointment to take them through to the end of the season.

And the Telegraph report claims that two more candidates have been interviewed by the club's football director, John Murtough, with Michael Carrick currently in charge in a caretaker capacity.

Chelsea keeping tabs on Fenerbahce star Szalai


Chelsea are keeping tabs on Fenerbahce defender Attila Szalai - according to Football Insider.

The Blues are eager to bolster their options at the back and have identified the 23-year-old as a target ahead of the January transfer window.

Sevilla's Jules Kounde is also still on Chelsea's radar, but Szalai could represent better value for money with a reported value of £10 million.

Manchester United have held talks with former Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde over the interim manager position after seeing an initial enquiry for Mauricio Pochettino knocked back, GOAL can confirm. 

The former Tottenham boss remains the number one target to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on a permanent basis next summer, but it is understood Paris Saint-Germain are not prepared to let him go without a fight in the middle of the season. 

Michael Carrick took charge of his first game as temporary manager in the 2-0 win against Villarreal in the Champions League on Tuesday night, but the club are in active talks to bring in an interim replacement for Solskjaer until the end of the season. It is understood that Valverde, who left Barcelona in January 2020 having won two La Liga titles, is one of the names on their short-term option list.

Wolves open door to Traore sale amid Liverpool links


Wolves have opened the door to the sale of Adama Traore amid ongoing links with Liverpool - according to Football Insider.

The Wanderers could cash in on the 25-year-old in January in order to make sure they have enough funds to finalise the permanent signing of Hwang Hee-chan from RB Leipzig.

Traore could be available for around £20 million ($27m) as he edges towards the final 18 months of his contract.

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka is open to returning to Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Swiss ace recently penned fresh terms at Emirates Stadium through to 2024, but would welcome the chance to retrace his steps when his contract expires.

Xhaka, who moved to Arsenal from Gladbach for £34 million ($45m) in 2016, has told the Mit Geredit podcast: "I have just extended my contract, which still has two and a half years to run.

"Then I'll be 32, and if Max Eberl [Gladbach's director of sport] is willing to bring me back when I'm 32, my door will be open."

The French winger's current deal expires in June 2022, and the Blaugrana are struggling. to tie him down to fresh terms.

Aston Villa are set to offload Bertrand Traore in January - according to Football Insider.

New Lions boss Steven Gerrard has deemed the 26-year-old surplus to requirements and the club will welcome any offers when the transfer window reopens.

Traore has been restricted to just four Premier League appearances for Villa so far this season.

Jesse Lingard remains determined to depart Manchester United in January despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer leaving the club, according to MailOnline.

Several Man Utd players who struggled for regular minutes under Solskjaer, such as Donny van de Beek and Anthony Martial, have been goven renewed hope over their future following the manager's departure.

However Lingard, who has made just one leageu start this season and whose contract expires next summer, has decided to move on and remains on the look-out for a new club in January.

The PSG boss is a top target to succeed the sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with Man Utd set to wait to the end of the season to appoint a permanent coach.

Pochettino worked with Trippier at Tottenham, while Kounde has long been admired by top European clubs and was close to joining Chelsea in the summer.

Liverpool are monitoring Olympiakos midfielder Aguibou Camara - according to The Sun.

The 20-year-old has also been linked with Leicester and Newcastle after an impressive start to his career in Greece.

Camara joined Olympiakos from Lille in the summer and has scored three goals in his first nine league games for the club.
