Football fans in Singapore will have more reasons to rejoice especially after Mediacorp, Singtel and Starhub have announced a live studio show

Football fans in Singapore will have more reasons to rejoice especially after Mediacorp, Singtel and Starhub have announced a live studio show capturing all the action and drama of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia. It will be shown on Mediacorp’s digital entertainment service Toggle and TV channel okto, Singtel TV, Singtel TV GO, CAST and Starhub TV and Starhub GO from 14 June to 15 July 2018. The show will feature extended live feeds from the stadia and analyses of key moments by football personalities over 25 match days, covering all 64 matches.

Over 200 hours of live coverage

The studio show is jointly commissioned by Mediacorp, Singtel and Starhub and produced by Mediacorp studios. Moreover, the show will be presented in three segments: pre-match, at half-time and post-match. In the pre-match and half-time segments, the show will dive into topics such as player profiles, team line-ups, match strategies and tactics. All in, the show will deliver more than 200 hours of FIFA World Cup related content.

Insights and analyses from football personalities

Presenting the show will be Richard Lenton and Steve Lai. Significantly, they will be aided by experienced pundits. These pundits are Liverpool and Welsh legend Ian Rush; Former England international Darren Anderton; local legend R.Sasikumar and former professional players including Paul Masefield and PJ Roberts.

Augmented reality on the show

Augmented reality (AR) technology will be used to bring a fresh viewing experience, and enhance on-screen graphics. With the addition of 3D elements, empty studio spaces will come alive on the screens of viewers with team formations and player profiles. This will be the first time Mediacorp is utilising AR for sports coverage.  Match Day will be broadcast live from Studio 4 at Mediacorp Campus.
