KPL transfers: Gor Mahia set to lose Rwandan midfielder

Gor Mahia are on the verge of releasing Rwandese midfielder Jean Baptiste Mugiraneza, Goal can reveal.

The Rwandan star joined K’Ogalo last season from Tanzania’s Azam FC but could not cement his place in the squad that won the league title. K’Ogalo CEO Omondi Aduda has revealed to Goal that the player is set to leave the club before the 2018 season kicks-off.

“He (Muginareza) has requested to leave for more playing time and as a club we don’t want to keep him here. We are waiting for his representatives to write officially to us and we will respond by handing him the release letter.”

Aduda added, “He still has one year contract but we cannot keep him here whereas he is not happy. It has got nothing to do with foreign quota rule but the player himself wants to get more playing time. He fears that he might not be used regularly and wants to join a team where he can play.”

Gor Mahia have five foreigners in their squad among them defender Karim Niziyimana (Burundi), Meddie Kagere and Jacques Tuyisenge (Rwanda), Godfrey Walusimbi (Uganda) and striker Ephrem Guikan from Ivory Coast.

Gor Mahia are currently in Nakuru for a 12-day pre-season training and will represent the country in Caf Champions League.
