KPL postpones 2017 league kick-off

Kenyan Premier League limited have postponed the 2017 season kick-off until further notice.

The league was initially scheduled to start on Saturday but the body has seen it wise to postpone it in order to pave way for a Joint Executive Committee (JEC) meeting between KPL and FKF over the impasse around league composition and participants.

Of course this announcement comes after Football Kenya Federation had suspended the league and opened legal proceedings against KPL’s top officials for escalating their ‘war’ (between the federation and KPL).

"The Kenyan Premier League has postponed the League kickoff to allow for the Joint Executive Committee (JEC) meeting scheduled for Monday February 13, 2017. Kindly be advised and inform your technical bench of the new developments,” a communique obtained by Goal from KPL reads.

Three matches were lined up for Saturday if league was to start. Kariobangi Sharks were to visit Bandari at Mbaraki Stadium, Chemelil Sugar were to host SoNy Sugar at Chemelil Complex and Gor Mahia were to start their title campaign at Mumias Stadium against Kakamega Homeboyz.
