KPL: Gor Mahia v AFC Leopards final to go on as planned

Gor Mahia will face rivals AFC Leopards in the Kenyan Premier League curtain raiser at Afraha Stadium on Sunday

Kenyan Premier League have confirmed that the Super Cup final will go on as planned.

Gor Mahia will face rivals AFC Leopards in the curtain raiser at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru on Sunday. Earlier reports on Friday, had indicated that AFC Leopards had pulled out citing lack of finances.

However, KPL CEO Jack Oguda has confirmed to Goal that Ingwe have not pulled out but have requested to be accommodated in Nakuru for one night before the final on Sunday.

“AFC Leopards have not pulled out out of the final. They have requested that we help accommodate them in Nakuru for one night. We are working on that and the Super Cup match will go on as planned.”

The tournament will have no prize money following the withdrawal of SportPesa as sponsors. The winning team will get medals and a trophy.
