Kalidou Koulibaly’s agent, Bruno Satin has refused to compare the market value of Liverpool’s new signing Virgil van Dijk with the Napoli defender.
The Netherlands international completed a world-record £75m switch from Southampton to the Anfield Stadium this month.
When asked about Koulibaly’s value in the transfer market, Satin was quick to point out that the player’s worth is dependent on the buyer and the seller.
“I don’t know, it always depends on who is buying and who is selling. He [Van Dijk] was considered the best defender in England and that sparked an auction,” Satin told Italian radio, Radio KissKiss.
“You can’t make comparisons between players, it all depends on context.”
Koulibaly has been a transfer target for top European clubs including Chelsea and Barcelona following his outstanding displays for the Partenopei who are chasing their first Serie A title since 1990.
The Senegal international has made 18 appearances so far this season, with three goals to his name for Maurizio Sarri’s men who sit at the summit of the Italian top-flight with 48 points from 19 games.
