Kotoko vs Ebusua Dwarfs: Porcupines hope to end winless run

Zdravko Lugarusic's men are under pressure to end their winless run in the league

Asante Kotoko will host Ebusua Dwarfs on matchday eleven of the Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday. The Porcupine Warriors are without a win in their last three games, which has brought about pressure on coach Zdravko Lugarusic.

The Croatian was prevented from entering Kotoko’s training ground on Thursday by some supporters who are against his 3-5-2 formation which they believe has led to the club’s recent slump.

Despite the chaos, Lugarusic insists he has gotten over the issue and hopes his charges will make the supporters happy.

"I'm calm and not bothered with the actions of the supporters," Lugarusic told Goal.

"When we were winning everyone was happy so you should expect reactions when results are bad. Although, their protests could've been done professionally I'm looking forward to win the game and appease the supporters.

"We need to win on Sunday before we think about the future.”

Dwarfs on the other hand, have their own problems since they have picked only one win in their previous five games and lying 10th on the log with 12 points.

However, striker Nicholas Gyan, who has scored seven goals to top the scorers chart has promised to add embattled Kotoko to his list of victims.

"I will definitely score against Kotoko on Sunday. I am saying this because I am desperate to score against all the top clubs in league. I will do anything humanly possible to hit the back of the net so that we pick the points at stake,” Gyan told Abusua FM.

"It’s unfortunate I couldn’t score against Olympics in our previous game therefore I need to lift my performance against Kotoko in Kumasi,” he added.

The two teams have met ten times since 1999, with Kotoko winning seven times while Dwarfs have picked two wins.

Last season, Kotoko thumped Dwarfs 3-0 in Kumasi thanks to a brace from Dauda Mohammed and another goal from Frank Sarfo Gyamfi.
