Kotoko midfielder Opoku admits team's spirit is ‘down'

The midfielder believes the club is failing to grind results in the league due to lack of team spirit

Asante Kotoko midfielder Jordan Opoku has attributed the club's recent poor run of form in the Ghana Premier League to lack of team spirit.

The Porcupine Warriors picked four points out of 12 from their last four games, including a 3-1 defeat to debutants Karela United FC on Wednesday, leaving them six points adrift of the top spot.

"The poor form is not as a result of players' age or whatsoever. Things are just not working well for us," Opoku told Nhyira FM.

"However, it's a matter of time and things will be okay so we just have to be together. As players, we're not happy with the current situation but we will have to work together to get back on track. The team's spirit is down or weak but it's not over.

"Like I said, we all have to come together and work for the betterment of the team. Both the players and the coaches are doing their best to get the team spirit back and start winning games so the supporters must do theirs too," he added.

Kotoko will host Bechem United at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Saturday.
