Kotoko handed Sharks, Hearts to face Olympics in Ghana FA Gala

The defunct Ghana PL curtain raiser gala has been revived after almost a decade of haitus

Ghana FA launched the 2018 Gala competition in Accra on Wednesday, which is scheduled to take place between February 3-4 at the Paa Kwesi Nduom Sports Stadium in Elmina.

Premier League champions Aduana opted to stay away from the competition after insisting that the timing will disturb their preparations ahead of the Caf Champions League. They are billed to play Libyan side Al Tahady in a fortnight in Egypt.

However, FA Cup winners Asante Kotoko, who will be playing Congolese side CARA in the Confederations Cup, have confirmed their availability and will take on Elmina Sharks while Hearts of Oak square it off with city rivals Great Olympics.

According to Ghana FA, each club will get $2,500 as participation fees while the last four clubs will have additional $500 as qualification bonus.

The winner and runners-up take home $2,000 and $1,000 respectively.

Goal understands that each of the preliminary games will last for 20 minutes in each half while the final will be 30 minutes in each half and 60 minutes in total.
