KFC Moments of the Day: Pogba's composure, teenage sensation Mbappe makes history

The international football extravaganza was brought to a close on Sunday evening, with France and Croatia fighting tooth and nail to be called champions.

It was a game worthy of such a prestigious final, but at the end of the day it was the French who proved to be too hot to handle.

Les Bleus showed why they have one of world football’s best attacks as they displayed a masterclass in finishing, making for a memorable event.

KFC Moment 1

With France leading 2-1, many would have expected them to take their foot of the peddle. That was certainly not the case as they continued to press in search of more goals.

Paul Pogba who has been immense for France throughout the tournament would have his moment in the sun.

The 25-year-old linked up well with Antoine Griezmann, who laid the ball off for Pogba on the edge of the box, setting the playmaker up for a strike.

Pogba showed great composure after his initial right footed effort was blocked as he curled the rebound into the bottom corner, this time using the left.

The curling effort left Croatian goalkeeper Danijel Subasic rooted to the spot, and slowly saw Croatian hopes of a historic triumph evaporate.

KFC Moment 2

Kylian Mbappe was without doubt one of the tournament’s most impressive players and it was only fitting that he would find himself on the scoresheet in the 65th minute.

The teenage sensation’s pace has been a deadly combination at the tournament and he once again showed that on the night.

The 19-year-old took the ball in his stride, outside the box and unleashed a powerful low drive.

While the ball may not have left the ground, the impact of the ball hitting the back of the net certainly did, as the French supporters jumped for joy.

Croatian keeper Subasic on the other end, would only look on in disbelief as he was beaten hands down.

Meanwhile, Mbappe’s strike would not only prove decisive for France, but created a bit of history for himself.

The devastating attacker’s goal made him the first teenager to score in a final at the showpiece event since Pele’s goal, back in 1958. That is no mean feat to say the least.
