Kemi Famuditi named Nigeria U20 women captain

Kemi Famuditi has been named as Nigeria’s U20 women captain ahead of Saturday's World Cup qualifier against Tanzania.

The Confluence Queens defender, who will be playing for the second time at the U20 level was a key player for Peter Dedevbo's ladies at the 2016 Fifa U20 Women's World Cup in Papua New Guinea.

Lilian Tule will be the second captain, while Rasheedat Ajibade will be first assistant captain and Glory Ogbonna the second assistant captain.

Coach Danjuma says his decision to appoint four-player leaders was to encourage bonding as he believes Famuditi and her crew surely lead the team to success.

"We agreed to appoint four leaders for the team to encourage the quick spread of information and also sharing responsibilities within the players," Danjuma told Goal.

"The captains and their assistants will make the work of the coaches easier on and off the pitch for effective communication. I have no doubt in their capabilities.

"It is all about team work here. And each and everyone in the team is important. So, I believe is that the set of players picked to lead will help achieve success."
